The National Association of Orthopaedic Technologists of Kenya (NAOTK) and the broader medical community gathered on Friday, 6th June 2025, to bid farewell to Elizabeth Mueni Mung’aithi, the Nairobi County Chief Orthopaedic Technologist and former NAOTK National Treasurer. She was laid to rest at her family home in Wamunyu, Machakos County, following a memorial service held on Thursday, 5th June, at AIC Plainsview, Nairobi.
Elizabeth tragically passed away on 30th May 2025 after developing breathing difficulties at her home in Ngumo Estate, Nairobi. Despite a successful minor knee surgery on 23rd May at Nairobi West Hospital for a meniscus tear, and a positive review on 28th May, she collapsed unexpectedly and was pronounced dead upon arrival at Nairobi West Hospital.

Elizabeth was a cornerstone of NAOTK, serving as National Treasurer with unwavering integrity and spearheading financial reforms that strengthened the association. As Nairobi County’s Chief Orthopaedic Technologist, she championed excellence and advocated for improved service delivery standards. Her warmth, humility, and mentorship inspired countless professionals and fostered unity within the orthopaedic community.
Kenneth Melli, NAOT Kenya Chairman, shared, “Elizabeth was a visionary leader whose dedication transformed NAOTK. Her financial management acumen and passion for our profession set a standard we will strive to uphold. Her loss is profound, but her legacy will guide us forward.”

Ann Marimbet, Chief Orthopaedic Technologist, reflected, “Mueni, it still seems like a dream that you’re gone. Your resilience, even in pain, inspired me. You served with joy, loved with compassion, and trusted God in every season. Your laughter and kindness remain in every life you touched. Rest peacefully, dear friend, until we meet again.”
Ronald Nyamweya, NAOTK Secretary General, added, “Liz was more than a leader in Orthopaedic Technology, Afya House, Nairobi County, and her church. She was a mentor to young technologists, a beacon of hope. Her memory will linger in our minds for years to come. Rest easy, Liz.”

She was uologized extensively ny other members of the orthopedic technology family in Kenya. Her legacy will continue to inspire NAOTK’s mission and the broader healthcare community.
