Priscah N. Kiragu
As Treasurer of NAOT-Kenya, my role is to ensure financial stewardship that supports our mission to advance orthopedic technology. Responsible resource management enables us to fund training programs, advocacy campaigns, and community outreach initiatives that enhance access to prosthetic and orthotic services. NAOTK’s financial strategy prioritizes transparency and sustainability, ensuring every shilling contributes to professional development and patient care. Our partnerships with organizations like ATscale and Clinton Health Access Initiative have bolstered funding for innovative projects, such as low-cost mobility devices for rural areas. These efforts empower our technologists to deliver world-class care. Looking ahead, we aim to invest in digital platforms for training and tele-rehabilitation, making services more accessible. I am proud to serve an organization that transforms lives through financial discipline and shared vision. Join us as a member or partner to support our goal of equitable healthcare for all Kenyans.
Chief Ortho Tech
Dr. John Mwangi
As Chief Ortho Tech, I lead NAOT-Kenya’s efforts to uphold technical excellence in prosthetic and orthotic services. My role ensures our technologists are equipped with the latest skills to deliver precise, patient-centered care. With advancements in 3D printing and smart prosthetics, NAOTK is at the forefront of innovation, training professionals to use cutting-edge tools that improve mobility outcomes. Our collaboration with Kenya Medical Training College has expanded certification programs, ensuring a skilled workforce. I’ve seen firsthand how a well-fitted orthosis can restore independence, particularly for children and amputees in rural areas. NAOTK’s scientific conferences provide platforms for technologists to share best practices and tackle challenges like device affordability. We also work with Circleg and Prothea to develop sustainable, locally produced solutions. My goal is to standardize care protocols across Kenya, ensuring consistency and quality. I invite technologists to join NAOTK, engage in our training, and contribute to a future where every Kenyan can move freely with dignity.
Former Chief Ortho Tech
Ms. Esther Wanjiku
As Former Chief Ortho Tech, I reflect on NAOT-Kenya’s evolution with pride. Over decades, we’ve grown from a small group to a national force in orthopedic technology. My tenure focused on building training programs and advocating for technologists’ recognition within Kenya’s healthcare system. I witnessed the introduction of advanced prosthetics and orthotics, transforming lives in communities once overlooked. NAOTK’s partnerships with the Ministry of Health and swissABILITY laid the foundation for today’s innovations. Our early conferences sparked collaboration, inspiring technologists to innovate and share knowledge. Today, I see NAOTK’s continued commitment to accessibility, with initiatives like low-cost devices and rural outreach. My advice to current technologists: embrace lifelong learning and advocate fiercely for patients. NAOTK’s strength lies in its community—join, contribute, and shape the future of rehabilitation. To patients, know that our technologists work tirelessly to restore your mobility and hope. NAOTK’s legacy is one of resilience and impact, and I’m confident it will continue to uplift Kenyans for generations.
